The Central Securities Depository of Iran issued 24 trading codes for foreign investors in the 10th month of the current Iranian year (Dec. 22, 2017-Jan. 20) to trade in Iran’s capital market. The newcomers included six institutional and 18 non-institutional investors from the Australia, Georgia, Armenia, Afghanistan and Iraq, IRAN reported. Currently, more than 1,000 foreign investors are trading in Iran’s capital market, including those from the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, China, India, Turkey, Lebanon, South Africa, Japan, Cyprus, Italy, Norway, Greece, Indonesia, Maldives, Canada, Hong Kong, Qatar, Pakistan, Syria, Luxembourg, Kuwait, New Zealand, Malaysia, South Korea, Virgin Islands and Nigeria, Mehr News Agency reported. According to Fariba Akhavan, the deputy head of CSDI, 200 trading codes were issued for foreign investors in 2017, including 95 institutional and 105 non-institutional investors from regional countries and Europe.
