Ahead of the Jan. 31 deadline set by the Financial Action Task Force for Iran to fully adhere to its anti-money laundering and combating of financing terrorism commitments, parliamentarians and Foreign Ministry officials convened to discuss related bills.

Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and Majlis Research Center Director Kazem Jalali on Sunday reviewed and discussed Iran’s four parliamentary initiatives for better adhering to AML/CFT laws, the news portal of the parliamentary think tank reported.

The bill, aimed at connecting Iran to the United Nations treaty, referred to as the International Convention for Combating the Financing of Terrorism, which was submitted to parliament in mid-November, and the bill on combating transnational organized crime are among the initiatives.

Two other initiatives are Iran’s separate AML/CFT laws whose amendments were signed by President Hassan Rouhani and submitted to lawmakers in November.
