Renewed investor interest in large-cap stocks pushed the benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, higher on Sunday while many smaller shares closed under sell-off. 

The TSE’s main gauge gained 44,318 points to climb 2.18% and closed trading session at 2,078,511 points, further strengthening above the critical 2 million points.  

TSE’s equal-weighted index gained less and finished 0.30% higher, indicating the rally affected a limited number of ticker symbols. The index gives the same weight to all shares irrespective of their market caps. 

Commodity-based shares, including many refinery, petrochemical, mineral and base metal shares, were gainers of the day with the auto, pharmaceuticals and cement stocks in the losing camp. 

About 9.05 billion shares valued at 170.74 trillion rials ($776.09 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Tejarat Bank was the biggest winner as its shares went up 10.39% to 4,250 rials per share. Barakat Pharmaceutical Group Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.98% to 40,270 rials per share.

Iran Khodro Company contributed the most to the benchmark’s fall, followed by SAIPA, Iran Khodro Investment Development Company and Fanavaran Petrochemical Company.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by National Iranian Copper Industries Company, Esfahan Oil Refining Company and Tehran Oil Refining Company.

The Price Index gained 11,642.5 points, or 2.18% to close at 546,020.72. The First Market Index gained 32,702.89 points, or 2.24% to post 1,492,783.89.

The Second Market Index went up 88,372.29 points, or 2.09% to reach 4,310,449.34. The Industry Index was up 38,599.54 points or 2.14% to register 1,846,456.02. The Free Float Index was up 44,147.75 points to hit 2,654,278.4.

TSE 30 went up 2,832.56 points to settle at 99,447.74 and the TSE 50 ended 2,261.02 points higher to finish at 82,613.

IFX Up 1.96%

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 413.22 points, or 1.96%, to close Sunday trade at 21,535.97.

About 13.85 billion securities valued at 134.02 trillion rials ($609.2m) were traded at the junior stock exchange for the day.

Esfahan Steel Company had the highest number of traded shares as 221.96 million of its shares worth 2.37 trillion rials ($10.77m) were traded.

Marun Petrochemical Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company, Damavand Power Generation Company had the most negative impact on IFX. 

Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Yazd Rubber Industries Complex, Arya Sasol Polymer Company and Esfahan Steel Company.
